IMPORTANT: SWAP has been notified that the job market in Japan is not very good right now. Foreign workers are having difficulty trying to find work so we felt it was our responsibility to warn participants of this. If heading to Japan, please be prepared that it might take longer to find work and you will need to have the appropriate support funds to live off of until work is found.
Although some knowledge of Japanese is helpful, it is not required as employment opportunities for English speakers are readily available. Your resume must be submitted in English. The minimum age limit is 18 for SWAP Japan; however, we recommend that you wait until you are 20 before applying. As Japanese employers prefer to hire employees who are at least 20, the likelihood of finding work is better once you have reached Japan's age of majority.
Please note that as the Japanese Government sponsors the Japanese Working Holiday Centres in Tokyo and other cities, we are not able to provide overseas support services in Japan through an organization. However, we have arranged emergency support services for Japan through a reliable organization for your assistance and security should an unforeseen circumstance arise.
