Great News!
The UK Government and it’s contracted company WorldBridge have agreed to operate a mobile Visa Application Centre (VAC) at Memorial University in St. John’s on July 15. Here is the link through which you can make an appointment to do the following:
1)Present all of the required documents to apply for the Youth Mobility Scheme (YMS) in the UK and:
2) Be fingerprinted and photographed biometrically to meet that government’s requirements.

There is a fee of $100.00 (plus tax) to take advantage of this mobile VAC in St John’s. This will be payable on the day of your interview by credit card. As you will see on the site, there will be a “mobile VAC” in Halifax once per month.
Applying for the YMS involves completing an application on-line at this site www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk and paying the visa fee $211.00 by credit card. Once you have submitted this, you will be assigned a number and once you have your passport in hand, and have other required documents ready to present, you can make an appointment for this mobile VAC at Memorial on-line at the site indicated above. Please note that WorldBridge , as they note on their site, simply accept applications on behalf of the British High Commission in Ottawa and do the biometric work but they do not comment on the quality of application packages. If you have forgotten something, your application is denied and the visa fee of $211 plus the $100 is forfeited.
Another option is to join SWAP Britain where knowledgeable staff apply (and pay the visa fee) on your behalf and monitor your progress making sure you have done everything correctly and that your application package is complete. We have had all applicants approved since the inception of these VAC’s and the biometric requirements two years ago.
Although there is a program fee for SWAP which includes the cost of the visa, (but not the $100 mobile supplement) you will find that this is money well spent. Apart from guiding you through the visa approval process, the far more important SWAP services await you in Britain itself where you become a member of that country’s premier exchange organization, BUNAC and are assisted with your job and accommodation search as well as a range of other services so that your working holiday in Britain comes together far better. In fact, it’s usually cheaper to simply go with SWAP as you will spend the difference and more sorting things out for yourself in London.
