It's construction season in Canada:
We're using this time to revamp our Member's Lounge website! We can't wait to provide you with new and improved resources. We'll be back soon!
Contact us if you have any questions.
Do you want to work in Canada?
Every year since 1975, SWAP has welcomed thousands of international youth into Canada through our programs and partner organizations. If you are between the ages of 18 to 30 (or 35 depending on your nationality), you can travel to and live in Canada to experience our culture and gain international work experience. We'll make sure that you have all the resources you'll need to ensure your time in "The Great White North" is the best it can be. We can advise you on everything from the best way to find a job to the most efficient ways to travel across the country, and everything in-between.
Young citizens of any IEC-eligible countries that are interested in coming to Canada for a work and travel experience within the Working Holiday category can inquire about what opportunities are available. Please contact us for information on your local partner, or to see what options are available to you.
You may be able to apply directly through us. Contact us for more information on SWAP Direct to Canada.

2020 IEC Program Updates
- The 2020 IEC season is now open! SWAP’s Working Holiday program for 2020 is now open. If you are interested in joining the SWAP program for 2020, please email email@example.com with your name, age, and nationality so that we can best assist. We may have a partner agency in your home country, who can start helping you plan right away!
- SWAP’s Young Professional Program: Due to high interest and limited availability, the SWAP 2020 Young Professional Program is now full for all nationalities, excepting UK nationals (aged 18-35), New Zealand nationals (18-35) and American nationals (aged 18-35).
- Repeat participation: For the 2020 season, SWAP and our partners will not be offering repeat participation (a second Working Holiday permit) in the Working Holiday category at current time. You may wish to contact other Recognized Organizations, who may be able to assist you, or look into cic.gc.ca for more options to come to Canada.
- Update on eligible countries: Unfortunately, there is no Working Holiday option available to Brazilian, Argentinian, Malaysian, or Singaporean citizens for the 2020 year through SWAP Working Holidays.
Notes on application process: The IEC programme is a three-step application process. This system requires eligible candidates to submit a profile into a pool. If the profile is accepted, candidates will receive a Letter of Invitation, which allows them to then apply for the Working Holiday permit. The times these rounds of Letters of Invitation are issued differ for each country. After determining your eligibility and submitting your profile, please check when the round of invitation is for your country. Simply click "Change your Selection" and select your appropriate country and Working Holiday category for information on when you can apply for the pool, and when the next round of invitations is.
Not all countries are eligible to apply for a Working Holiday Visa. Please check the IEC website and the list above to verify if you are eligible to apply.
For Canadian Employers
Hundreds of companies across Canada hire working holiday youth, and for 40 years SWAP has built great working relationships with many businesses by recommending hard-working SWAP participants to work for them.
